Case overview
FuXion is a multinational company that researches, develops, and produces food products designed with specific functionalities and following the latest advances in human nutrition science
Involvement
- Platform integration
- Cloud storage
- Cost optimization
- Collaboration
The Brief
They had compatibility issues with the previous platform on different devices. They needed to improve integration, efficiency, and save time. They didn’t use shared documents, and all documentation was sent via email. Users noticed a difference with Google Sheets because they could freeze more rows and columns, which they found convenient
- Real-time collaboration
- Cross-platform compatibility
- Efficiency and time savings
Our Approach
The migration process took a month, and the main resistance came from users who skipped the training sessions planned with Meriti to familiarize themselves with the new solution. We aim to implement a continuous monitoring system to identify additional optimization opportunities and ensure that costs remain under control in the long term.
Virtual machine tuning
Alignment with actual CPU and RAM requirements
Task automation
Automating tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
Resource unification
Consolidating resources for centralized management and better control.
Virtual disk review
Reviewing virtual disks to optimize storage and reduce costs.
The Results
Their primary tools for daily work are Gmail, Google Drive, and Calendar.
Regarding metrics and considering the cloud-based work, the monthly disk space usage has decreased significantly.
We also achieved successful cost optimization within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure, resulting in a substantial reduction in monthly consumption. Through a comprehensive analysis and the implementation of best practices, we managed to decrease monthly costs from over $17,000 to less than $14,000.
Migrating consumption to the Meriti partner account enabled centralized management and greater control over resources.
We identified and terminated idle Compute Engine instances, and adjusted virtual machine sizes to align with actual CPU and RAM requirements.
A thorough review of virtual disks was conducted, eliminating unused disks and optimizing storage to reduce costs.
Moving forward, they need to integrate all the heterogeneous software pieces that were created without technical criteria.
Those who received the most training are now using these tools much more effectively. Therefore, they will continue to organize regular talks to provide ongoing training for employees and the technical team on best practices to foster a culture of efficiency and cost management.
This project demonstrates Meriti’s commitment to cloud efficiency and cost optimization. The approximately 20% reduction in FuXion’s Google Cloud Platform expenses represents a significant saving that can be reinvested in other strategic areas of the business.
